Home Schooling

Today’s Image: Nietos en la Nieve.

As a follow on to the Digital Apathy post, I must make mention of the nietos /grandchildren.

– Chelle, our daughter-of-the-heart, just celebrated a birthday. (balloons & hugs 🙂 )

From the start, and despite the upheavals in moving continents, seeking the right city, looking for a home, Chelle has home-schooled them both. Rebecca is at 6th grade, Noah at 2nd.

The family is settled (for now) in N Carolina, and the children must sit annual exams set by the State to determine if they are being educated to the required standard.

Chelle sent us a note, which I am abuela-proud & happy to reproduce:
“Beccs and Noah got their yearly reports from the State of North Carolina. For the year average, Rebecca got 99% (you can’t go higher), and she has been placed at college/university level. Noah got 99%, and he has been placed at a 10th grade level.

“I knew they were doing well, but those were 6th and 2nd grade tests, and they are at college and 10th grade. Noah scored at an 11th grade for some subjects.”

Case closed!!!
